1/72 Polikarpov I.153

Post by VanceCrozier »

How do you say FINISHED in Russian?? :D Repopulating the Forums with something I wrapped up not too long ago.

This is the old Heller kit in 1/72,raised details, but very well done. Good fabric effects where required. I drilled out the exhaust ports & added some stretched sprue there. It was also my first attempt at rigging with stretched sprue, a little thick perhaps but I was happy with it. (yes, I tackled it in 1/72, I'm slightly masochistic I suppose). Kit decals were a little rough and off-register, I trimmed the excess red from the stars and used them, all other decals were scrounged from an older Hasegawa Yak-3, so, not correct, but I just HAD to use that Cyrillic script somewhere.

For those requiring a little something in the photo for scale, y'all know what Cuban coins look like right? RIGHT??!?

Oh, you don't?? Maybe something Canadian, ehh.

And sitting with it's new BIPLANE BUDDIE

Similar span, Polikarpov a little shorter

Merci monsieur Heller!

Thank you KSaarni. That was a fun little kit, some of those older Heller kits are real gems. I seem to be on a bit of a biplane kick right now for some reason?

Vance, excellent work. You Canadians are a unpredictable bunch, Eh? :D

That is one sweet bird. Way to go. Well done tackling the rigging too. I have a little F4-B4 I'm gonna try to rig. I can only hope it turns out as well as yours.

Wait a minute, I have seen that one before!

I still like it very much, a slogan on the fuselage is so architypical for Russian aircraft.
