Thanks for the posts, gents! Stuart, that book is a rare photo essay on the Bf 109 by one of Hitler’s press corps.
I do not own it, but I added it to the references for this project.

Wow - that's really interesting Bruce. I have a book on the P-51 that is much like that.

Bruce I finally got caught up and found this. I love watching you build models in my favorite scale! I' following this one well. Carlos is an outstanding reference source; his ability to find info like this is legendary. You can take his info to the bank.

I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Man do I ever! I've got me a couple. Getting back around to building aircraft on a regular basis has been pretty tough for me the last few years. Go to the automotive section of this forum for more details on that.

Joe! Thanks so much for checking in. I was going to start this on the weekend. Between the odd jobs and a video shoot time has become somewhat rushed for me. Apologies, bud.

Duke, between your work and what Bolleken does in 1/72 I have basically been taking master classes. Ditto Sylvio. I think everyone should build in 1/72 or 1/144 from time to time. I think this was expressed well in “The Book of Five Rings,” as “a short man must experience what is like to be tall, and a tall man must experience what it is like to be short,” both are ways of seeing the world but from different perspectives. I truly believe that spending time building in 1/72 increases one’s ability to produce effective scratch building as well as atmospheric scale effects with paints.

Thanks—I definitely feel inspired by your productivity! The photo is a K-4 from the same unit. I am kicking myself for not having more information than that. I am also collecting color photos of 109s regardless of series—
