Off to a great start there! Wonder which engine the kit has in there?

Progress pics from last night and tonight...
The engine. I love Testors Ford Engine Blue!!

And she's in and hooked up to the radiator and hose!!

The classy chassis....

Headlight lenses and tail light lenses glued on using Pacer Formula 560 Canopy glue

Rims installed!! I scuffed the tire threads to give a worn look.

The kit came with 4 metal pins to install the wheels to the axles. Not too crazy about them. I should have grabbed a steel rod from my Monte Carlo kit to use through the rear axle to connect the back tires. Oh well, too late now.

Great looking engine! Wheels, too!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Man this is gonna be a friggin winner right here Tom!!
If I can give you a friendly tip. Grind up some black pastel into a powder and try dry brushing a LIGHT coat of it onto the exhaust manifolds. It’ll give them a true steel look.

Re: BlackSheep's Starsky & Hutch Ford Torino
I built a Chevrolet 409 engine a few years back for a community project on another forum and used this process for the exhaust manifolds.
Actually what I do is black base the manifolds in flat black and then coat them with a very light coat of MM Steel. Then after that a very light coating of dry brushed ground up pastel.
Just after painting the steel color onto the manifolds:

And then a shot of the engine with the treated manifolds installed. It really makes a big difference.

Here’s a fun question for ya, Joe.... the dashboard. Instruction guide says flat black, while the steering column and wheel semi-gloss black. Does that sound right for the dashboard to be flat black? I had thought about doing it semi-gloss. Now I’m not so sure to do it SG black. Thoughts?
