Thanks Paul.
I've got the engine bay on this one just about finished. I need to come back over the fan shroud and radiator core support with another coat of flat though...

Joe, I'm old and forgetful. Help me out again on what you use for the tanks under the hood. How do you color the washer tank? Do you get them online?

Lyle: I paint the kit parts myself using Tamiya White Primer as a base. After that I mask the tanks off and paint a light coat of the desired colors (i.e. green for coolant or blue for windshield washer fluid) onto the tank. After the fluid colors have dried I come back over the whole tank with a coat of flat clear with a drop or two of white mixed in. This gives the illusion of the fluid being inside the container.
Honestly it's good that these are in there because from the late 80's on engine bays got kind of bland. Lots of black with some aluminum or gray adorns almost any newer bay so lots of add in's like these as well as lots of tonal color variations help out a lot.

That sounds deceptively simple to me. I'll have to try it some time. That is beautiful work. Those older engine bays - you could crawl in and work on them, out of the sun.

Thanks Lyle.
Well guys...………...I had more done on this thing than I thought. the only real setback was that the exhaust tailpipes hung down too low. I had to break out the mini torch and carefully shield all the surrounding chassis and apply a little heat to it to tuck it back up where it belonged. The ending steps are a bit finicky with the front bumper being sandwiched between the body and the chassis but I've now got that done. I still need to re-paint the tail gate and install the upper radiator hose, side rear view mirrors and do some last minute clean up, polishing and a couple of other things but this one's almost there....

Re: AMT 1991 Silverado 454 SS-Almost There-03/16
This looks absolutely awesome Joe, off topic sorta,,did the early 90’s Silverado have a different electrical system than the mid/late 90’s K1500’s? I still have my 97 1500 and although it has been a great truck i’ve had nothing but problems with various electrical gremlins...

Thanks Brent! The two are totally different fuel injection systems with 88-95 being throttle body injection and the 96-99 being central fuel injection on a Vortec platform. What kind of electrical issues are you having?

Hey Joe,,, at least 2 alternators, most of the various things with pin connections like the intermittent wipers, heater and different control boxes for the climate control, electric window switches, 2 fuel pumps and sending units ( yes I kept the tank at least 1/2 full or more) I only have 120,000 miles on it, to this very day I have to disconnect the battery or something drains it down within a couple days... I have heard of other 1500’s that had similar problems.. I was wondering for a while if I had a flood damaged vehicle, but there’s no green wire anywhere...

Dude............this sounds like a grounding issue. Make sure you check your battery ground at the engine block as well as your main grounds up under the hood like on the thermostat housing retaining bolts and such.
