Ace Combat, 1/72

Post by CallSignOWL »

Im a big gamer groupie and my favorite series is (duh!) AceCombat, from Namco/Bandai. And did you know, Hasegawa released limited boxings with game decals!?!? I do now!!! Ive a few kits, so Ill just be posting the WIPs here, to save from cluttering.

First up, I nabbed the "Garuda 1" limited edition boxing, and lo-and-behold, the decal sheet comes with multiple game-markings!!

Garuda 1 if the main character of AC6, with markings for the f-15e
Image

but also included are markings for an ally, Windhover, who flies an f-16c
Image

so naturally, Im gonna do both.
As luck would have it, I had an f-16 already in the stash (hasegawa, 1/72)

Keen as.
You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Last ace combat chapter I played was the two with original PlayStation :D
After brought the first Xbox I used to play with other similar games but even arcade oriented games... Pure simulators really not for me :whiteflag:

Follow the wip in other words

Im sure you could pick up a ps2 memory card for cheap at places like gamestop? and replaying is half the fun!! :P

AC5 is hands down, the best game I ever played. THAT is how you write a story-line, folks! Id recommend it to anyone.

in other news, that two-day break in the weather brought me some goodies
here's a bit of whats to be added on the eagle

the f-16 is in holding pattern till his wingman catches up, but the f-15 is on the tarmac!

one of the first things I decided to do was replace the kit seats as there are rather...simple. Quickboost to the rescue
Image

the pair painted up
Image

the tub had decent enough detail, so why would I shave it off to use the decals?? More painting! :)
Image

Im not used to PE yet, so I took my sweet time getting the replacement IPs in stalled, but it was worth it. Very nice!!
Image

Image

not much detail on the sidewalls though... yes gotta make sure to add nose weight

chugging along on the f-15, I noticed there was an unfortunate gap when attaching the nose section. I sacrificed teh fit on the top to ensure I didnt have a gap on the bottom which would be much harder to sand. I filled the gap with plasticard

Image

also, hasegawa wanted you to snip off these thin rods for the burner cans....not gonna happen my friend. see here, each rod is only 1/4 an inch long
Image

stretched sprue to the rescue!
Image

in preparation for a quick sanding job, I decited to tack on the canopy for now, to protect the pit from dust

more soon
