Academy 1/350 Graf Spee

Post by Stikpusher »

This is the Academy 1/350 Graf Spee kit that was released a few years back. I built this one on and off over the course of a couple of years, but it is not a difficult build at all. Even for a novice ship builder such as myself. It really is a good learning kit, although it does have a few accuracy issues.

Another fine build! Some day, when I am grown up, I want to have a ship built looking as good as yours!

Thank you Thomas. You really should try your hand on a ship kit sometime. Even if you are not yet grown up.

I tried to buy a couple of Arizona's fro Walmart - boxes were all spray painted and they would not mark them down. The best one of the manager weenies would go was 10-15%. I was thinking more like 50%. They would have been mules for sure.

Don't know that I have the patience for the extra fine detail on railings, ladders, etc. Yours is quite nice.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Yeah, that is why ships take awhile....

Thomas, I am flattered and honored by your action there. Vielen dank! (I hope that I said that correctly. It has been many years)

Thomas, my German is so rusty, folks need a tetanus shot when I use it... it has been far too long.

Medic, ships are fun to do. They just require a more "long term" approach in the build I think.
