What can I say, Im a new Airfix Groupie!

Both 1/72, of course! But no aftermarket, just what's in the box.

For kit-included cocpits, there are some nice details to be found! My only gripe would be the decal-only instrument panel, as there is no other IP included to paint.

The -109 received a black base and grey drybrushing, followed with a wash. The kit includes the option to have the engine displayed, and Im sure a bit of wiring would help detail this area to the brim! But for me, I simply gave it a black paint job, follwed with a drybrusing of steel. There are two little vents in the cowling that allow you to see inside, but not much is visible once the piece in in place.

Well that's funny - I've just started a 1/72 bf109E for this GB too - altough I haven't posted pic's yet. Thankfully mines an E-7 'Tropical'

while the -109 was settling, I moved to the Zero. A black base followed with silver drybrushing, then my own mix of "aotake" green. The aotake is a mixture of green acrylic, with a touch of blue, thinned heavily with a dose of future. This lets the paint become translucent, and you can build up the layers. Once that was dry, I picked out the instrument details and gave everything a panel wash.





the kit comes with fairly decent engine detail, but .I chose to leave it as is. Those with the desire can either wire it up, or substitute a resin piece, because you are still able to see a fair amount of the engine detail once the spinner is in place

and here are both little birdies buttoned up!

a little bit of putty was required to smooth everything out. The -109 didnt want to close up around the cockpit without clamping, and there was a fair bit of gappage on the underside of the Zero, where the flaps met the wing. But all in all, the fit of parts is good! Those were really the only trouble areas, and Im not sure if it was due to the kit itself, or just user error.

Those two builds are coming along really nicely - love the homebrew interior paint on the Zero.
