Meng World War Toons Sherman Tank

Post by Scruffy »

I have been working on this fun little kit, unfortunately though I did not take too many in progress photos as I worked on it piece meal a few minutes at a time here and there. I added cast texture to the hull and turret with Tamyia primer, left off the lifting lugs on the hull sides and added the attachment strip between the hull and transmission cover from Evergreen strip and Grandit Line nut/bolt/washers. I also added the largest N/B/W castings to the back side of the idler axel at the back.
To complement the toon aspect I used a kind of unique, but authentic camo, the counter scheme where the lower sections of the hull were painted white. The model will be very similar but not identical to Sherman's of the 1st Armored Division at the Anzio Landings.

That is indeed an actual camo scheme used in Italy by US 1st Armored Division. Well done!

Hobby Lobby also usually has several of the Meng kits on the shelf as well. That is where I found this one.

Doh.....that’s right! Now I remember - I did see it at HL, not a website.

Very nice job! I do love that camo pattern. Way to go!
