Robin Olds P-38 J (1/48 Hasegawa)...

Post by lawdog114 »

Hello, This is my first submission here. I figured I would start off with Robin Olds P-38J "Scat II" from his days with the 479th FG. Olds shot down a Bf 109 in glide mode in this plane. On August 25 1944, he jettisoned his fuel tanks but forgot to flip the switch to the internal tanks. He pounced but the plane stalled. He still managed to flame the 109 before restarting his engines. Here Scat is depicted just after D-day. Anyways, I used a True Details cockpit, Ultracast wheels and gun barrels. Paints are Tamiya and Gunze Aqueous for the Olive Drab. I painted in the Invasion Stripes.

Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome....

Can you fly this plane and land it? Surely you can't be serious? I am serious, and don't call me Shirley

Wowser. This is gonna be fun! Love your work and WIPs! Always informative.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Love it! The same markings I was going to use someday. I can only hope mine comes out that good. Very nice work.
