Tamiya 1/48 Fw-190D-9 Done

Post by cbaltrin »

I think this is the 5th Tamiya D-9 I have built. It was the first kit I bought when I got 'back into the hobby' around 1991.
I have two more left in the stash, but I don't think I will ever build them. If I ever build another long nose 190 , it will likely be a more modern kit with the correct details. I did use an Eagle Editions update setup on this one though for the prop/spinner and gun cover.

That is impressive work, Chris!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Oh wow, that's a darn good 190D! Build, paintjob, weathering, everything's on top level.
I like them moderately worn, so this is right on point for my taste. If there's something to nitpick, it would be the prop and spinner combo that looks straight out of the factory compared to the wing roots. But it could also be part of the maintenance story.
Cheers,

Beautiful work on your Dora Chris! :shoutout: :shoutout: :shoutout:

With this being your fifth, it truly makes you an ace

I thought of that too. I actually tried to chip of the spinner a bit but it really does not show in the photos. I may need to do some more work there. There is also some very subtle wearing on the prop blades but again, it's not coming through in the photo. On top of that , I am not sure if this would have been a wooden blade or metal. Definitely don't know how to weather a wood blade :bag:
