1/48 scale Kinetic F-16 Fighting Falcon, Luke Air Force Base

Post by BlackSheep214 »

Not a bad kit but learned how to work around certain steps for a smooth assembly. Bought aftermarket decals a long time ago for this kit.

This is a scheme of the 21st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Wing based out of Luke Air Force Base.

I decided to do a simple weapons loadout on this one. A pair of AIM-9X sidewinders on wingtips, 4 AMRAAM-120, and an AN/ALQ-131 ECM Pod in centerline station

That's a very nice build Tom :shoutout: :shoutout: :shoutout: And an excellent choice of scheme - the tail markings are superb, I can see why you went for them.

It looks good with that load out.

Another most excellent piece of work!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Thank you for the kind words.

There are other cool tail art of the Gamblers at Luke AFB. Just curious if they have aftermarket decals for them. Have to do a little investigating. :lashed:

That turned out pretty nice Tom! Those are some very striking markings on the tail! :shoutout:

Found a few photos of the real aircraft

I love to do these tail schemes...

Im not much of a fan of shark mouth aircrafts (except for the P-40 Warhawk), but this Viper shark mouth "Gamblers" I definitely would do.

100% Agree with that - it looks good on piston aircraft with large chin intakes that actually look like sharks, but otherwise is looks crap - especially on jets.
