Tamiya 1/48 scale P-51D Mustang, Part Deux

Post by BlackSheep214 »

Same kit, different bird scheme but will do this to compliment as my planned Dual Build that was stalled last year.

Nice! That's a great kit. I did it a few years back in a rare dio for me.

Nice kit - I built one years ago and having built the Airfix and Eduard since - I still say it's the best P-51 in the scale. Okay maybe the cockpit might need a lift but not too much.

I picked up the same kit earlier in the year to build 'Detroit Miss'.

An old reliable! Have fun with it.

Started working/painted the cockpit last night. Followed the binned Eduard’s color call out and planned on doing do in certain spots. I may try to used Eduard’s struts since they both look very close in size. The Eduard’s struts were already painted and has the aftermarket resin tires on.

All is left is the throw a bit of weathering on cockpit later before installing to to fuselage in step 2.

Fuselage buttoned up late last night. Next step are the wings but wheel wells need paint first. Once they’re on, hopefully tomorrow the silver goes on.

Two tone silver is one. Darker shade is Tamiya Bare Metal Silver, lighter silver shade is Krylon Chrome Silver. Im following Eduard's Aluminum Lacquer painted areas.
