Dude—Yes, that’s a good idea. Prices are riding higher than usual on the Bay, though—more than the price I paid for the kit itself. There’s a fella on eBay selling the two halves of the Fokker pairing as a set of four - $17.00 plus shipping! No way.
Now I realize that a good figure is basically another model but I’m seeing COX and Revell 1/24 figures going for 20 bucks. Even just the heads are going for a lot of coin. I’m not talking the Russkit sculpts from the Sixties with visible features—I’m talking just about anything from COX, Revell or whatever. That’s asking a lot for something I feel I could make with a ball of putty.
I wrote to Marc Tyler at Immense Miniatures asking him if he might do something in 1/28 for me. I haven’t heard back. I think he’s been on hiatus about as long as I was and continues to be. I purchased a pair of Russkit heads and a COX full figure (designed for the GT40) online from Electric Dreams. Let’s see. Maybe these will work!
The good news is the general level of construction and fitting is still on-going; I’m not bored by this kit. I like low parts and good vintage plastic. You definitely need to cut the locator pins, though. Keeping them is asking for gaps.
