That's a cool photo! Although your slot car driver looks quite comfy sitting in that cockpit, that pic suggests that he may be a wee bit over-scale? It's probably not enough to matter though. :hmm:

Just superb work. Snoopy looks jealous that he is not in the fight. Hope you are still safe and doing well.

Thanks, Gary and Lyle!

Yes, a 1/24 figure in a 1/28 cockpit. There wasn’t much choice in 1/30 (at least affordable choices sub-$40) which would have been closer to scale size. I will add arms and legs and a proper leather flight helmet as well then let’s see if his size improves a bit. I have been waiting on plasticard to make an instrument panel and back rest for several weeks now so it’s going to be a case of approximation. Also the propeller’s pitch looks wrong for the Clerget motor or wrong for the Sopwith Camel, but I’m not going to carve a new one. Although Marius did share a carving he made with me (from a coffee stir stick) and I’ll see if I can reshare it. I’m still trying to work with what Revell gave me. I promise.

Also the blue gloss shows through at the center of the engine’s crankshaft area—I need to reestablish the aircraft silver (delicate flat by Tamiya’s aircraft line) on that.

Maybe he’s just a big & tall guy :hmm:

Let’s see. I think I will shorten his torso a bit. I thought having the figure leaning over to shift gears in the GT40 might also work better in the cockpit of the Camel.

One thing for sure, his head position is perfect! Really looking straight forward, hoping to see some Fokkers in the air, ready to be shot down...

At least you found a pilot close to the scale you wanted. Not exact but close enough. Looking forward to more.

Thank you so much, gents!!!

I know, I know. 1/24 is not 1/28.
I could have 3D-printed a driver.
But, I like keeping the figure the same vintage.
And I have him sort of in the same position as the pilot shown in the photo.

That looks really good Bruce, very natural position with the arms hanging outside the fuselage.
