Thanks, Tom! Sincerely. Means a lot. I do have better guns from the original Copper State Model company; rare upgrades with clean resin and dainty photo-etch that might cause Lyle to reach for the debonder!

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

This is quite the in-depth build Bruce and it looks like she's getting a good amount of lovin' along the way. I've never built a bi-plane before as the rigging has always been a fear of mine. Will be watching this one.

Carlos, those are some nice looking renders, congratulations my friend. And yeah, Lyle and Joe, it wouldn’t be a party on SPAM without you rascals aboard; I’ll apologize in advance for such a long haul so far but I decided if I have an hour each week to set aside for this hobby, truly, without much fanfare I could build and learn and I have truly learned from this old kit.
Note that I added a gif from US Archives and I had troubles afterwards loading my mobile account so I’ve pulled that clip down. I’ll stick with only post image links which are used by others here.
As far as rigging goes, I’m using a combo of steel, photo etch and elasticized string. This kit will be a true kitchen sink and kitchen table build.

Notes: calling this research for me basically: the Vickers guns were belt-fed, approximately 400-450 rounds each, said rounds kept in a tank for each gun.

Saturday’s Photo Dump

Explanation: I sliced off the two exhaust tubes because they are located in the wrong place; my plan is to reuse them. Unfortunately, the sawing left behind marks which required filler. That's done. Once this dries completely, I'll mark out the openings for the exhaust tubes, drill holes and then glue the kit pieces back in place. On these photos I have merely set the tubes in loose position; red dot indicates the former location.

Thanks, Carlos!!!!! Using Windsock Datafile #26 is making a huuuge difference in my ability to suss out how this is supposed to work and how the shape is supposed to be formed.
As an aside, that is how my Dad taught me to form putty; very little top sanding. This comes from auto body shop training but it has stood by me in all model building. Get the putty as close to a righteous fit before it dries than do the subtle refinements. I'm still biting my tongue when I see any builder put globs of putty on a surface. To each his own, but I know this is best for me, which ultimately is what counts.
