Yes! I was planning to rewatch that one, Gary! I did not know that the same prop was used but that makes sense. It’s not a common piece.
Re scale size maybe that 1/27-1/28 scale was for a war game figure set. There’s some nice detail, so someone put some time into designing it.

Re: Into the 3D Printing Rabbit Hole
One other bit that I printed up with the original minigun file, I printed up this M2 .50 cal. as part of the same batch. It’s pretty nice, and has some decent detail
Here I have it with an older Tamiya and Academy .50 cal… interesting how each has a different length and width

And a side view with the Academy .50

Then today was a test of scaling down the minigun to 1/48. It came out pretty close to 1/48…. and still has the individual battles and hollow bores… far superior to any minigun that I’ve seen in a 1/48 injection molding. I also printed up a few M2 receivers, and a bunch of M2 aircraft barrels

Good times!

Re: Into the 3D Printing Rabbit Hole
It’s getting there… trying to print up an unknown scale TOW launcher now so I can try to figure out what scale the file actually is…
The first attempt was tiny,,, maybe something like 1/87… now I enlarged it hopefully to something close to 1/35…

Maybe I will send Carlos my Monogram 1/48 P-51D replacement spinner file to
practice on
Never mind the pre-paid return mail box that will show up in a few days..

Re: Into the 3D Printing Rabbit Hole
I’d really like to get into this, nut I know I’d be dead in a year. I’d quit wearing a respirator, using gloves, etc. ventilation wouldn’t be a problem, but the patience to learn all the intricacies would be. I’m my own worst enemy…(see latest purchases).
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Well I’m sure getting used to the scent of the resin. It doesn’t bother me like it used to, or does it seem as strong. Not to mention that I’ve gotten my handling technique down so exposure time is reduced quite a bit compared to my early efforts. But gloves… oh yeah! I’m going thru disposable gloves like there’s no tomorrow…
