A right of passage for any pro model builder used to be building a vac form machine which is actually pretty easy! Yesterday I saw vac formers are now available for 30 bucks online. Seeing these results here makes me believe that the times are a changing. Learning a lot here, Carlos! Keep up the good work!

Makes me wonder about 3d printing canopies - maybe even with separate frames. Carlos is clear resin available?
I had done some smash molding making canopies with clear sheet stock. Would come in handy.
Thanks,
John

Yes, there is supposed to be clear resin available. I haven’t used it myself, but am told it’s out there for purchase.

I’m curious if the clear resins would be frosted, not clear per se….

I don’t think it would be frosted. The problem is gonna be the layering. no 3-D printed object is truly gonna have a smooth finish. I doubt the finished print would be smooth enough for a canopy, at least not with the existing technology..

Quite true! Even if the layering is tha absolute minimal possible on the printer and the movement times slowed down to extremely slow motions to minimize possible distortions, it would likely not be crystal clear compared to what could be done by injection or vacuform molding.

Looking forward to seeing a sample canopy made whenever he has a chance.
